New Post: Using the plug ins

I am able to do what I need manually, but I would like to have it automated, triggered on a song change alone

Here is a brief description:
  1. Spotify and Toastify are running correctly. A text file exists on my desktop called songname.txt.
  2. spotify plays it's way through a playlist.
  3. When the track changes, toastify pops and displays Songname, Artist and cover art.
  4. I press Ctrl Alt C and copy the info to windows buffer
  5. I open the text file, activate it, highlight the existing info. Press CTRL C and paste the new info.
  6. I edit the hyphen, " - " ( change ascii 20 96 20h to ascii 20 2d 20h )
  7. then SAVE the text file.
  8. job done
  9. Repeat when song name changes.

New Post: Option for not displying "Spotify not running" dialog

I wish there was an option not to display the dialog that Spotify is not running. There are several reasons for this option:

1) When logging in, Spotify more often than not hasn't loaded before Toastify.

2) I have recently started to configure Spotify not to run on log-in but to instead load it on demand but I still let Toastify load at start-up to have it there when I finally decide to run Spotify.

In both of these cases the error dialog appears. It is unnecessary. I know Spotify isn't running.

Additionally, it could be useful to provide an option for loading Spotify from a hotkey and/or on start-up of Toastify.

Got this from another post... Seems to work

I have to set the offsets to 390 right and 240 bottom to be able to see the toast in the lower right corner of the screen.

What version of Toastify are you using? What is your screen's resolution? I'm concerned that the defaults don't work since they are offsets from the bottom right corner and shouldn't have to be that large.

Also, have you updated to Windows 8.1 / the latest version of Toastify? I haven't seen reports of the toast not being on top for the last couple of versions now...

This is https://toastify.codeplex.com/workitem/13151 which will be in the next release.

There is already a feature, in the current version, that auto-starts Spotify after Toastify is launched, see "Launch Spotify if not already running" under "General" in Settings.

For any other feature requests please open a Work Item under the "Issues" tab so that they can be tracked.

It's definitely possible to build something like this, but it sounds like you don't know how to program, so unless you can find a volunteer to do this for you it isn't going to get done.

An alternative is to dig into C# with some beginner tutorials and see how far you get that way (you can obviously ask specific questions related to Toastify integration as you go along).

I have a Dell convertible. Xps 12 Duo. Win 8.1. It has a touchscreen. Resolution 1920x1080. Graphic integrated: Intel 4000 HD I'm using 1.6.5 version of Toastify

Just while I was writing this post, I tried toastify and it miraculously worked hahahah. I seriously have no idea what was going on. But hey, it works now!

Thanks guys for your help!

"Don't know how to program" is a bit of a generalised statement.

I am very experienced in coding vba and vb where things are done slightly differently. But you are correct... I have never bothered to learn C#. And I have not got the faintest idea how to load the plugins. Beginner tutorials don't really help unless you want to write "hello world" in the middle of your screen, which I don't.

However, reading through the code that is offered here in "example plugins", I feel sure I am capable of making it do what I need.

I can work out the coding details no problem. The part I don't understand is how to load and use the example plugins,

So my first objective is to load the example plug in and get that working. I am sure its easy, when you know how.

Once I can see how its done I will be able to develop a solution
So, can anyone describe how to use them in a few steps suitable for a C# dummy like me?

What I can offer in return is some documentation so that the next person can go off and do it without asking as I have had to do.

Many thanks in anticipation.

This looks pretty interesting. Maybe I'll take a look tonight and see if I can create a sample plugin.

On a side note, I've always used last.fm to scrobble all of my plays. That website does a great job of keeping a history of all of your plays. It even keeps track of which tracks you skipped and more. There is a way to export all of your data from the settings too.

Hey colda - a lot of people have asked for easier moving of the Toast. This should now be in version 1.6.7, just bring up the toast (click on the icon), hold Ctrl and drag the toast around. Location should persist :)

Please open a bug if you're seeing settings no persisting across restarts - we save the settings to a file so it sounds like there is potentially something preventing the file from being saved. Thanks!

I've had this for few days now.
Enabled global hotkeys and copy track information are both ticked, tried numerous hotkey combinations, reinstalled both Spotify and Toastify several times for no avail, booted PC few times.

I even tried an AHK script and it doesn't work.
Running Toastify and Spotify as administrator have no effect whatsoever.

As if I have no access to copy that information on clipboard.
What gives?

This works for me - but I've found a bug when the format string is empty. Is your "Clipboard Template" empty in Settings?

Just noticed that some of the explanation text is cut off as well. will fix that as well.
